THE HIGHLIGHT™ GUIDE TO RED LIGHT THERAPY
Red light therapy doesn't need to be complicated.
The Highlight™ Learn Center was created to help you understand the technology behind red and near-infrared light therapy—from wavelengths and panel coverage to session routines and choosing the right system for your lifestyle.
Whether you're exploring light therapy for the first time or upgrading to a larger full-body setup, you'll find clear, practical answers designed to help you make a more informed decision.
No complicated jargon. Just a better understanding of the light, the technology, and how to build it into your routine.
UNDERSTANDING RED LIGHT THERAPY
What is red light therapy?
Red light therapy is a form of light-based wellness technology that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. Unlike ultraviolet light, the wavelengths commonly used in red light therapy are non-UV and are selected for how they interact with the body.
Red wavelengths are generally used for more surface-level exposure, while near-infrared wavelengths can penetrate more deeply into tissue. This is why many advanced panels combine both types of light rather than relying on a single wavelength.
Highlight™ panels are designed to deliver targeted red and near-infrared wavelengths across a defined treatment area, making it easy to build light therapy into a consistent home wellness routine.
How does red light therapy work?
Your body is constantly interacting with light. During a red light therapy session, specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light reach the skin and underlying tissue at different depths.
One area of scientific interest is how these wavelengths interact with mitochondria—the structures inside cells involved in producing cellular energy. Researchers continue to study photobiomodulation and its effects across a wide range of wellness and performance applications.
The important distinction is that red light therapy isn't designed to heat or burn the skin. A quality panel is engineered to deliver concentrated light at carefully selected wavelengths.
Think of it less like a tanning bed and more like precision light technology designed around specific wavelengths.
What is the difference between red light and near-infrared light?
The biggest difference is wavelength and penetration depth.
Visible red light generally operates within a wavelength range that can be seen by the human eye and is commonly associated with more surface-level exposure. This makes red wavelengths particularly relevant to skin-focused and facial wellness routines.
Near-infrared light uses longer wavelengths. Much of it is barely visible or invisible to the human eye and can penetrate deeper into tissue than visible red light.
This is why Highlight™ systems combine targeted red and near-infrared wavelengths. Rather than forcing you to choose one type of light, the panel is designed to provide broader wavelength coverage within a single session.
Does red light therapy use UV light?
No. Red light therapy is not the same as ultraviolet light exposure.
UV light occupies a different portion of the electromagnetic spectrum and is the type of light associated with tanning and sunburn.
Red and near-infrared therapy devices use longer wavelengths of light and are not designed to tan the skin.
This is one of the most common misconceptions for people seeing a powerful red panel for the first time. The intense red appearance can look dramatic, but the underlying light technology is fundamentally different from a tanning bed.
Why are red light therapy panels different from regular red LED lights?

WAVELENGTHS & TECHNOLOGY
Why do red light therapy panels use multiple wavelengths?
Different wavelengths of light have different optical characteristics and interact with the body at different depths. This is why advanced red light therapy systems often combine visible red and near-infrared wavelengths rather than relying on a single type of light.
The Highlight Mini™ 400W uses a focused dual-wavelength configuration of 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared light, making it a simple option for facial, upper-body, and targeted routines.
Our larger Highlight Core™ 1000W, Highlight Pro™ 1500W, and Highlight Elite™ 3000W systems expand to four targeted wavelengths: 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, and 850nm.
The 630nm and 660nm wavelengths fall within the visible red spectrum, while 810nm and 850nm are near-infrared wavelengths.
For customers who want a compact, straightforward daily setup, the Mini provides targeted dual-wavelength exposure. For broader wavelength coverage and larger treatment areas, the Core, Pro, and Elite offer our four-wavelength configuration.
What is a dual-chip LED?
A dual-chip LED contains two light-emitting chips within a single LED assembly.
Instead of designing a panel with completely separate sections dedicated to different types of light, dual-chip configurations can deliver red and near-infrared wavelengths throughout the panel's LED layout.
Every Highlight™ model uses a dual-chip LED configuration.
The Mini™ features 80 dual-chip LEDs, the Core™ uses 200, the Pro™ uses 300, and the flagship Elite™ uses 600 dual-chip LEDs across its full-body panel.
This matters because LED count should always be considered alongside the physical size and intended coverage of the panel. The Mini's compact LED array is designed for targeted sessions, while the Elite's significantly larger 600-LED array is built to distribute light across a much greater treatment area.
More LEDs aren't automatically necessary for every customer. The right LED configuration depends on how much of your body you want to expose during each session.
Does higher wattage automatically mean a better red light therapy panel?
No. Higher wattage doesn't automatically mean a panel is better for you.
The better question is: How much treatment coverage do you want?
The Highlight Mini™ 400W is our compact desktop system, measuring approximately 300 × 200 mm. It's designed for focused areas such as the face or targeted parts of the body.
The Core™ 1000W expands to approximately 900 mm in height, creating significantly greater vertical coverage.
The Pro™ 1500W measures approximately 920 × 280 mm, providing a wider treatment surface for customers who want more body coverage.
At the top of the range, the Elite™ 3000W measures approximately 1500 × 395 mm—nearly five feet tall—and is designed for true full-body sessions.
Wattage increases across the Highlight™ range because the panels, LED arrays, and treatment areas become substantially larger.
Choose based on your routine and desired coverage—not simply the biggest number on the specification sheet.
Why does distance from the panel matter?
As light travels away from a panel, it spreads across a larger area. Your position relative to the panel can therefore influence both coverage and the amount of light reaching the treatment area.
This is particularly important when choosing between Highlight™ models.
With the compact Mini™, you may position the panel for a focused facial, upper-body, or targeted routine and reposition it when you want to focus on another area.
The larger Core™ and Pro™ naturally illuminate a greater area of the body because of their increased physical dimensions and wider 60° lens configuration.
The Elite™ is designed around an entirely different experience: large-scale, full-body coverage. When paired with the Full Body Stand, the Elite can be positioned horizontally above the body while you lie down, creating a comfortable and repeatable full-body setup at home.
The larger the treatment area you want to cover, the more valuable panel size and positioning become.
Why does LED panel size matter?
Panel size determines how much of your body can be positioned in front of the light at one time.
The Mini™ 400W is intentionally compact. At approximately 300 × 200 mm, it's ideal for customers building focused facial, skincare, or targeted body routines.
The Core™ 1000W, measuring approximately 900 × 205 mm, provides substantially more vertical coverage and is a strong step up for customers who want to treat larger areas.
The Pro™ 1500W increases the panel width to approximately 280 mm, creating a larger treatment surface for broader routines.
The Elite™ 3000W is our full-body system. At approximately 1500 × 395 mm, its nearly five-foot panel is designed to illuminate significantly more of the body during a single session.
This is why many customers may choose a Mini for convenient facial or targeted sessions and a larger Highlight system for broader body routines.
You don't necessarily use them the same way.
The Mini is about focused convenience. The Core and Pro expand your coverage. The Elite is built around the complete full-body experience.
Which Highlight™ technology setup is right for me?
Choose the Highlight Mini™ 400W if your priority is facial routines, skincare-focused sessions, or targeted areas. Its compact desktop design, 80 dual-chip LEDs, 660nm and 850nm wavelengths, and 30° lenses make it our most focused system.
Choose the Highlight Core™ 1000W if you want significantly greater vertical coverage. With 200 dual-chip LEDs, four wavelengths—630nm, 660nm, 810nm, and 850nm—and 60° lenses, it's designed for larger treatment areas and less repositioning.
Choose the Highlight Pro™ 1500W if you want broader coverage from a wider panel. Its 300 dual-chip LED array and 920 × 280 mm treatment surface make it a strong option for customers building a more comprehensive routine.

Sessions and Daily use
How long should a red light therapy session be?
There is no single session length that applies to every panel, treatment area, distance, and goal.
The amount of light delivered during a session can be influenced by several factors, including wavelength, light output, distance from the panel, and exposure time. This is why simply assuming that a longer session is always better isn't the right approach.
For focused routines with the Highlight Mini™ 400W, you may use the panel on a specific area such as the face or upper body as part of a short, targeted routine.
With larger systems such as the Core™ 1000W, Pro™ 1500W, and Elite™ 3000W, significantly more of the body can be positioned within the treatment area at once, reducing the need to repeatedly reposition the panel.
Always begin with the recommended session guidance provided for your Highlight™ model and build a routine around comfortable, consistent use.
The goal isn't to spend your entire day in front of the panel. It's to create a repeatable routine you can actually maintain.
How often can I use my Highlight™ panel?
Red light therapy is often incorporated into a regular wellness routine, but appropriate frequency can vary based on the device, exposure parameters, and individual circumstances.
Consistency is generally more practical than using a panel sporadically for extremely long sessions.
This is one reason we designed the Highlight™ range around different lifestyles.
Keep the Mini™ on a desk, vanity, or countertop for convenient focused routines. Position the Core™ or Pro™ in a bedroom or home gym for larger treatment areas. Or create a dedicated full-body setup with the Elite™ and Full Body Stand.
The easier your panel is to use, the easier it becomes to make light therapy part of your routine.
Choose a setup that fits your life—not a setup you'll hide in a closet after two weeks.
How far should I stand or lie from my red light therapy panel?
Your distance from the panel influences how the light spreads across the treatment area and the amount of light reaching the body.
There isn't one universal distance that should be applied to every red light therapy panel. Panel output, optical lens angle, and the intended treatment area all matter.
The Mini™ uses focused 30° optical lenses, while the Core™, Pro™, and Elite™ use wider 60° lenses designed around broader treatment coverage.
For this reason, we recommend following the distance guidance provided with your specific Highlight™ model rather than copying a routine designed for a completely different device.
When using the Elite™ with the Full Body Stand, the stand creates a more controlled horizontal setup, allowing the panel to be positioned above the body for a comfortable full-body routine.
Good positioning should feel intentional, comfortable, and easy to repeat.
Can I use red light therapy in the morning?
Yes. Many customers may find the morning a convenient time to build a light therapy session into their daily wellness routine.
The Mini™ works particularly well for compact morning routines. Its desktop design allows it to fit naturally into a vanity, dressing area, or home workspace.
For customers who prefer a more complete routine, the Core™ or Pro™ can be positioned in a bedroom or home gym and used while preparing for the day.
The Elite™ creates an entirely different experience. Paired with the Full Body Stand, it can become a dedicated full-body ritual before the day begins.
There is no requirement that every Highlight™ customer use their panel at the same time.
The best time is often the time that makes consistent use easiest for you.
Can I use my Highlight™ panel in the evening?
A Highlight™ panel can also be incorporated into an evening wellness routine.
Some customers simply prefer to create a quiet, screen-free period where they can lie down, relax, and complete their light therapy session at the end of the day.
This is where the Elite™ paired with the Full Body Stand creates a particularly premium experience. Position the panel horizontally above your body, lie down, and create a dedicated full-body ritual without repeatedly moving a smaller panel between treatment areas.
For a shorter evening routine, the Mini™ can be used for focused areas while you sit comfortably.
Your routine should be built around your lifestyle and the guidance for your specific panel.
Morning or evening—the most useful system is the one that naturally earns a place in your day.
Can I use red light therapy before or after a workout?
Red and near-infrared photobiomodulation have been studied in relation to exercise and skeletal muscle performance and recovery, including protocols applied before exercise; importantly, study protocols use specific doses and device parameters rather than treating all red-light devices as interchangeable.
For an active lifestyle, the best Highlight™ model depends largely on how much of the body you want to expose at once.
The Mini™ is convenient for a focused area.
The Core™ and Pro™ provide larger treatment surfaces for customers who regularly focus on broader muscle areas.
For athletes and highly active customers seeking maximum treatment coverage, the Elite™ 3000W is the most complete Highlight setup. Its 600 dual-chip LEDs and nearly five-foot treatment surface are designed to expose significantly more of the body during one session.
Pair it with the Full Body Stand for a horizontal setup after training.
Train. Lie down. Complete your routine. Move on with your day.
choosing your Highlight™ panel
Which Highlight™ panel is right for me?
Start by asking one simple question: How much of my body do I want to expose during each session?
Choose the Highlight Mini™ 400W for focused routines involving the face, upper body, or targeted areas. Its compact desktop design makes it easy to keep on a vanity, desk, or countertop.
Choose the Highlight Core™ 1000W when you want substantially greater vertical coverage. At approximately 900 mm tall, the Core is a major step up from a desktop panel and allows you to expose larger areas with less repositioning.
Choose the Highlight Pro™ 1500W when you want a wider treatment surface. Its approximately 920 × 280 mm panel and 300 dual-chip LEDs create broader coverage for more comprehensive routines.
Choose the Highlight Elite™ 3000W for the complete full-body experience. At approximately 1500 × 395 mm with 600 dual-chip LEDs, the Elite is designed around true head-to-toe sessions.
Focused: Mini. Expanded coverage: Core. Broader coverage: Pro. Full-body: Elite.
Is the Highlight Mini™ enough for facial and skincare routines?
For customers primarily building a facial or skincare-focused light routine, the Mini™ is our most practical choice.
The Mini measures approximately 300 × 200 mm and uses 80 dual-chip LEDs with 660nm red and 850nm near-infrared wavelengths. Its compact desktop design makes it easy to position where your skincare routine already happens.
Keep it on a vanity. Use it while sitting comfortably. Build it into your morning or evening routine without creating a dedicated treatment space.
A larger panel can also expose the face, but not every customer needs a five-foot system for a focused facial routine.
This is why the Mini also makes sense as a second Highlight™ panel for customers who own a Core, Pro, or Elite.
Your larger panel handles the big sessions. The Mini stays within reach for the quick ones.
What's the difference between the Highlight Core™ and Pro™?
The biggest difference is panel width, LED count, and overall treatment coverage.
The Highlight Core™ 1000W measures approximately 900 × 205 mm and uses 200 dual-chip LEDs. It's designed for customers who want significantly more vertical coverage than the Mini without moving into our larger systems.
The Highlight Pro™ 1500W measures approximately 920 × 280 mm and uses 300 dual-chip LEDs.
That additional width and larger LED array create a broader treatment surface.
Both models use Highlight's four-wavelength configuration of 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, and 850nm, along with 60° optical lenses.
If you're primarily concerned with gaining more vertical coverage, choose the Core™.
If you want a wider panel and broader treatment area with less repositioning, upgrade to the Pro™.
Do I really need a full-body red light therapy panel?
Not everyone does.
If your primary goal is a focused facial routine or targeting individual areas, the Mini™ may be all the panel you need.
The reason customers move into larger systems is coverage and convenience.
With a smaller panel, treating multiple areas may require repositioning yourself or moving the panel throughout the session. A full-body system is designed to expose significantly more of the body at once.
The Elite™ 3000W measures approximately 1500 × 395 mm—nearly five feet tall—and uses 600 dual-chip LEDs across its large treatment surface.
For customers building red light therapy into a serious long-term wellness or active lifestyle routine, the value of the Elite isn't simply its wattage.
It's the ability to create a true head-to-toe session with dramatically less repositioning.
Why would I choose the Highlight™ Elite 3000W?
The Elite™ is built for customers who don't want to compromise on treatment coverage.
Its nearly five-foot 1500 × 395 mm panel houses 600 dual-chip LEDs and uses four targeted wavelengths: 630nm, 660nm, 810nm, and 850nm.
Its 60° optical lenses are designed around broader light distribution across the Elite's larger treatment area.
But the biggest difference is the experience.
Stand in front of the Elite for large-scale sessions, or pair it with the Highlight Full Body Stand to position the panel horizontally above your body while you lie down.
Instead of repeatedly moving a smaller panel between your face, upper body, legs, and other areas, the Elite is designed around complete full-body coverage.
One panel. One setup. One complete routine.
What is the Highlight Full Body Stand, and do I need one?
The Full Body Stand transforms how you can use a larger Highlight™ panel.
Rather than positioning the panel vertically, the stand allows a compatible panel to be positioned horizontally above the body while you lie down.
This creates a comfortable, hands-free setup that feels closer to a dedicated wellness studio experience—without leaving home.
For Elite™ customers, the Full Body Stand is the upgrade we recommend for anyone who wants to create a dedicated full-body routine in a bedroom, home gym, or wellness space.
You don't need the stand to use your panel. The Elite can still be used in a vertical position.
But if your vision of red light therapy is lying down, putting on your protective glasses, and completing a full-body session without constantly repositioning yourself, the Full Body Stand is the setup you want.
I want the best Highlight™ setup. What should I choose?
Choose the Highlight Elite™ 3000W with the Full Body Stand.
This is our flagship setup for customers who want maximum treatment coverage and the most complete Highlight™ experience.
The Elite's 600 dual-chip LEDs, four targeted wavelengths, 60° optical lenses, and nearly five-foot treatment surface are designed around full-body sessions.
The Full Body Stand allows you to position the Elite horizontally above your body while you lie down, creating a comfortable, dedicated light therapy setup at home.
For additional convenience, add the Highlight Mini™ 400W to your vanity or daily routine area for quick facial and targeted sessions.
Elite + Full Body Stand for complete sessions. Mini for everyday focused convenience.
That's the ultimate Highlight™ setup.
